10.0g of calcium carbonate was reacted with 50mL of 1.00 mol L hydrochloric acid.

Calculate the volume of carbon dioxide produced at 25C and 100kPa.



can sum1 please show the full working out with all necessary equations. it would be much appreciated. thanks :)

This is a limiting reagent question.
CaCO3 + 2HCl --> CO2 + H2O + CaCl2
Number of mols of CaCO3 = 0.1, Number of mols of HCl = 0.05. Therefore, the limiting reagent is HCl. So using the molar ratio 1:1 for CaCO3 and CO2, the number of mols of CaCO3 able to react = 0.5x0.05 = 0.025 = number of mols of CO2.
Then, n=V/mV 0.025 x 24.79 = 0.619..
