This is concerning imaginative journeys...

In a number of ways, the text can be construed as an imaginative journey. On one hand, Bragg demonstrates how individual scientists have undertaken expedions into intellectual discovery, and how science itself has undergone an imaginative journey through time. On the other, he invites the readers to broaden their intellectual paradigms by embarking on a journey of intellectual discovery.

Can anyone help me re-phrase it? I've been staring at it for 10 minutes and it sounds so awkward. :(

i dont think ill be able to help cuz i dont do those texts... you would be better off asking some1 with some understanding of them... but just a piece of advice- my teacher tells me that when i use fancy wording, a lot of the meaning is lost, cuz rather than saying what i have in my head, im too concerned with trying to make it sound as posh as possible. Just get onto word/works and do a thesauras (however u spell it) check on some of the basic words, and that should help to lift the level of language, without getting too far off the point. i hope this helps. good luck!

hang on does this help...

"There are numerous ways in which a text can be portrayed and defined as imaginative."

Thats for the first bit... but from reading it i get the feeling that the opening line doesnt really fit the info u have used as examples.

I think wat u are getting at is the fact that there are a variety of conventions related to the concept of imaginative jouneys, including scientific discoveries, and other things...
Not being harsh or n e thing.... but i think that first bit is kinda off the mark... it sounds a little like u mean texts are constructed to be an imaginative journey, when in fact wat i think u mean is there are numerous factors which determine whether a text fits into this particular genre if u can call it that.... i hope that helps a little.
What u wrote isnt bad or wrong... just play around with your sentence structure a little. good luck!!!

Ok I'm studying Bragg so I hope I can be of SOME help:

Melvyn Bragg's On Giant's Shoulder's focuses on the imaginative and creative leaps of intellect that 12 scientists have undergone over the time frame of 2500 years.
The chronological biography of each scientist explores the context and dominant value systems of the time. By holding discussions about the progress of science throughout history, it can be seen that a ''single figure can allow the context, the time, the culture the place to be brought to bear.'' Through this chronological structure, Bragg challenges the assumption that progress occurs in a single line. The composer encourages the audience to enhance and broaden their intellectual paradigms by considering a context unlike their own.
