I used audiobook for Frankenstein and I know about the plot the most in my class. There are people who've read it that don't even know what they're reading about.

I don't see an audio book helping with at all with spelling or grammar. But as Jamesfirst stated, it would help with your understanding of the text, and will help with remembering the plots / characterisation etc.
I also don't see how they could possible help with spelling or grammar. They can be useful in helping someone to learn how to read a senetnce properly. Like where to pause and help gain an understanding of sentence structure? I think...
