i dont see why not
if you put the effort into your studies during the next 2 years, then you do whatever you want, ie doctor or an aeronautical engineer
good luck

yeh I reckon so, you're doing pretty good subjects. *insert motivational sentence about working hard to acheive goals etc.*

Why does everyone want to be doctors though? its really not that glamorous.

you've got good subjects, and if you pull it off in the HSC you should be able to do it.
Good you've looked at different options so you've got stuff to fall back on.:)

well uhh you look set to be more of an aeronautical enginner to me, looking at your sbujects ... a guy in my chem class did accelerated english advanced and biology is hoping to be a doctor, at the cost of my rankings by competing with me intensely.

fair enough.

it such hard work though, and it's not even a very good job.

The beginning years of being a doctor might be harsh, but once you move up to senior positions, its a whole different story.

What do you mean by not a good job? Who do you go to for help when you're sick? Besides earning a stable income, I think a doctor gains job satisfaction as well.

1) atm we dunno that.. because u may not be guarenteed where u want.. there is however work near uluru.. also atm there are more uni places for 2012 than job places for graduates in that yr for australia..
2) frankly when ure an adult.. u live ure life .. not ure parents
3) I suspect lots of med students have better things to do.. than study..
4) oh no lolz... more respect/arrogants = an increase level of lawsuits
5) law dent... etc.. lots of things..

just some food for thought.. i think excelling in a field is good.. and there is so much potential to learn things in medicine.. but it's not a means to an ends... lots of ppl in fact get the undergrad degree and never see a patient for the rest of their lives :).. they do other things..

the subjects are fine.. just be proficient at english..

Doctors have a very high rate of depression, alcoholism and suicide.. so yeah.. kinda have to be ready for lots of stress or hope ure very easy going =D

I think you have this whole grey's anatomy/house idea of what medicine is like.

Once you finish your degree and your intership you have a few options
-stay on at a hospital and work up to senior positions (which few people do, and if they do its only usually for a few years)
-specialise
-become a GP

Specialising is just about the most boring thing you can do. The only half-decent ones are neurology and paediatrics. The rest you just see the same type of disease over and over and get nothing thats even remotely different from what you see basically every day.
GP is probably worse. You get the same old whingey patients all the time, whore are more often then not, ungrateful and rude. The only procedures you do are boring and gross. Any cases that are remotely interesting you send off to a specialist.

how do you know? you're only in yr 11 and you've never experienced it for yourself.
Do you have doc parents?

my mums a GP. I've spent more than enough time at her surgery to know how boring it is.
+ a lot of my friends have parents who've specialised.
Sure, the money's great, but the works boring.

Although I guess all works boring.

And if medicine's what you wanna do, then I'm not really trying to discourage you from doing it. But just don't go into it expecting grey's anatomy, house and ER, which so many people do.
