I highly doubt it.

I think you're looking at ~94-95 right now.

Don't think so, if you look at it, you aren't top ten percent in any of your subjects but low nineties I'm thinking

Above posters are being a bit pessimistic. You have an OUTSIDE chance at a shot of a 97,98 if you can top your cohort in the externals for most of your subjects, especially English...But atm you're sitting at about 94...

Thanks for your responses guys :) I think it's worth noting that the person who scored these marks (Not me), missed out on 2nd place in Chem and Physics by literally ONE mark. They also are quite the talented writer, they were only let down in English by two poor assessments and an unusually strong cohort for our school. They are also gifted with genius Natural Math abilities (the 1st place in 4u belongs to someone who has actively been rote learning the syllabus since year 10!), the low rank in 3u is accountable for an unfortunate fluke. This person has also received a bit of a wake up call after a few disappointments in the form of bad trial marks, which I think has motivated them to not stuff around as much as they have this year. I know it sounds strange for me to come on here posting a question about someone else's ATAR (I care about this person a lot), and start defending them when people predict bad ATAR's for my own question. But with consideration of this extra background knowledge, do you now say that 97 - 98 is a possibility.

Thanks heaps guys

Oh and by the way, it might be worth mentioning this; I can't say for sure; but it seems as if my School's rank is showing the potential to jump as high as 50 places. I know how that sounds, it's crazily optimistic, but honestly my year is the most studious cohort the School has seen in a LOOONG time, and I'm not just saying that. The school rank though it may not jump as incredibly high as I predict it to, will definitely jump at least 10 or 15 ranks.

What do you think ? :)

Still around 94 as others have said. Most people tend to really go into HSC. It's not just him having a wake up call, it's alot of people! Because alot of people tend to do try harder in the HSC it's also harder to impress markers, so really it depends how much more he's putting into HSC. Anyone aiming for 98+ though usually works consistently throughout the year and already has that goal in mind through the year. Not just getting a wake up call unfortunately. 15 ranks from a 300 position doesnt do too much either,it usually means the bottom cohorent has moved to average up with everyone else, there's always a few who get a good ATAR but in schools between 200-300 only 1-3 each year tend to get 98+

I wouldn't see anywhere close to 98 atm. And I don't understand why you couldn't ranked higher for 3U if you think you will be 2nd in 4U

don't think 98.. unless your cohort is SUPER smart in comparison to previous years..

I was top 3 in all my subjects, see sig.. and only got 98.75

edit: school rank was 280ish, after my cohort jumped to 150s

Okay I'm being optimistic here :). What type of improvements in the HSC would I have to see for the ATAR to reach 97 or 98??

Unfortunately its your school's rank that let u down, if you went to a top school, 50 ppl get like ATARs of 99.

well your cohort seems relatively similar in size to mine..
my grade only had 70 or so students and only 9 received ATARs over 90.
Dux (me) received 98.75, second received 97.5, third 95 and then the rest were <95.

At the moment I'm thinking <95.
around 94/95 ish.

My school was ranked like 250 ish, and then dux got 99.75 (first in everything) and a few 98s, and 2011 we got ranked 125 (smh thing). So for low ranked schools, its essential to top everything imo.
But with your ranks, i dont see it happening m8. but nothing wrong with trying your best and proving us wrong :)

good luck.

Nothing wrong in hoping, right? At least he's given himself a chance with those results

Yeah, i mean its always possible, this guy bottomed out in almost everything, and he still got 99.1

What you need to do right now, is to help the ppl who got a higher rank them you to make sure they dont screw up
