Ok guys i desperately needed help. Well after i eliminate most of my virus today i click on the microsoft internet explorer...and i found a page which says that 408 HTA Privacy Violation in Progress

It also stated there are evidences that i gone to SITES WITH REALLY SICK STUFF (AND BY GOD :( IT WAS ONLY A PORN SITE I ACCIDENTALLY CLICKED ON BUT I DUNNO THERE ARE SOME REALLY SICK WORDS INSIDE) and that i've been to those really sick site.

Thankfully i explained to my mom what happaned but the government might be checking up my I.P and i probably get the chance of going to jail

Now back to the topic...is there a way to clear that warning which appeared every time when i clicked on internet explorer and can someone please list me a good firewall? My norton is getting useless.

Help would be much appreciated.

you're probably the most frightened person i've known of yet in this issue. chillax dude, you aint goin to jail. get microsoft anti spyware, and Mc Afee anti-Virus, along with Mc Afee Firewall protection, run scans, you should be fine. if worst comes to worst.....get all your stuff onto cd's or external hard drives, FORMAT!

You just have some adware/spyware on your computer.

Error 408 is request timed out, not "privacy violation in progress". Unless you have something to be guilty about you shouldn't have to worry about going to jail.

Going to porn sites with browsers like IE will get you nasties like this. It probably just changed your homepage to show the 408 page - best thing to do is not go to those sites and use another browser like Firefox.

Check the FAQ on how to remove adware/spyware.

Sorry to burst your panic bubble, but the current government wouldn't have anything like the tech you'd need to check your IP. At least, that I know of. It's NSA-style stuff.

Try a new virus scanner and spyware scanner - AVG Anti-virus, Ad-Aware, and Spybot are all highly recommended by me.

As for the firewall, Zonelabs' free Zonealarm is an excellent firewall solution. Did I mention it's free? That's the icing on the cake. :)

You might also want to consider switching web browsers. Internet Explorer is especially vulnerable to attack due to how closely it integrates into Windows. Firefox is a popular free browser that is much more secure than IE. Nothing's bulletproof, but Firefox is definitely more solid than Internet Explorer.

i was just about to edit my post and you said it perfectly. using firefox would be a great move, i've been using it for ages, its so much better, blocks out these stupid pop-ups and sypware and crap. download it: www.mozilla.org/firefox but don't delete IE, you'll need it for some things.

I don't think you can delete IE. It's now become an integral part of windows.

Firefox also imports ur IE favourites very easily.

I try these out and let see if i can clear my name off it (it just embarrassing having that thing on saying i go to site with words like blah blah blah). But anyway i should start tyring these out and use fire fox cause yeah it is more secure from what i heard.

And when that warning shows up its happaned to be a site (but the detail bout where i live is very accurate it freaks me out).

I'm pretty sure the govt. does have the technology to spy on us... I heard that they have software which is capable of reassembling packets as they pass thorugh ISPs.

Anyhow, I would also recommend using using firewall and antispyware software- if you want, you can try using another browser such as Firefox, or one which is built on IE like Maxthon. I like Maxthon's "clean system" feature which is just like Firefox's easy access to clearing the memory too.

Yeah, there are a strain of programs called packet-sniffers.

I experimented with one (Ethereal) by monitoring my direct line to the internet and having another computer accessing the net through it.

It can pick out the stuff that are being viewed on my other computer like html codes, the target IP & origin IP of the packet, number of times the packet has "hopped" and what IPs did it went through.

zonelabs zonealarm security suite is a pretty solid package for a reasonable price.

Zonealarm has worked great for me so far but if ure comp has heaps of viruses best way 2 get rid of them is format it and start again.

Another better alternative to Firefox is Opera. It has better interface and i found it very convenient, stylish and really load pages much quicker than Firefox. I highly recommend it to you.

=p Don't worry, the Govt or any Private company will not simply walk up to your house with a warrant [even if you've been downloading software/games illegally] owing to the fact that they have too much on their hands to worry about each and every citizen breaking an international copyright law].

Anyways, as for protection upon your computer, definitely take off Norton, they have the worst forms of internet security, not to mention the mem usage of it.

Firewalls depend upon what type of user you are, if you're a heavy user who constantly downloads stuff [i.e. movies, etc via btt] you'll be needing a much stronger firewall than zonealarm, try Sygate firewall PRO, McAfee isn't bad either. Then obtain some good anti-viruses such as those shown in this site:
Code:
http://www.virus.gr/english/fullxml/default.asp?id=69&mnu=69
(Kapersky ranked first)

Then download apps such as Spybot (free) + Counterspy. [Just get 2 or more anti-spywares, because there is not one anti-spyware that can block every type of spyware.

And that's that, if you're really anxious about being caught by companies/govts, download a protowall.

If you want to get up an internet security suite with minimal fuss, might try purchasing ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite 6. Offers all the bells and whistles, including the new triple-layer protection firewall, which protects Windows down to the kernel. As for anti-spyware, I use Microsoft Anti-Spyware, Adaware 6 and Spybot Search & Destroy.
