For non-smokers, I just would like to say, you have a right to not be exposed to smoke, you do not, however, have a right to comment upon another persons choice to smoke.
It is not polite to say "smoking will kill you" or "its a filthy and unhealthy habit" or "that is so disgusting, you smell like smoke".... Keep your opinions to yourself. Nobody likes to be told what to do and you aren't saying anything a smoker hasn't heard before or read on the goddam packet.
How about those non-smokers who have health problems related to smoking? Never touched a cigarette in their lives, but still have smoking related problems. After going through things like that, I think that person has every right to be on a moral high ground. In fact, they have a responsibilty to let smokers know first hand that if passive smoking can do that, imagine what smoking does.
I reckon if smokers can't take the advice that's put on the packet, then they need to be told. Who knows, there might be a smoker who's dyslexic. It'll be more trouble for him/her to read the packet.
Don't want to deal with the bullshit you get for smoking, simple. Don't smoke. It does no good anyway.
Though it should be mentioned at UOW people tend to smoke near doors even when told not to. I've seen it happen at USyd and UTS as well. When a uni is full, it's often found that the fresh air is inside a building. A sad day when that happens.
