Can we use the nCr and nPr keys for probability? (1 Viewer)

I would like to know if are we allowed to use the permutation (nPr) and combination (nCr) keys when doing probability in the general course? This make the all thing easier!

You certainly can ... if you know how to use them.

But IMO learning all that is more trouble than it's worth. The questions are not really all that complicated. ⁿC_r and ⁿP_r notation (and calculator buttons) are best left to the 3 unit guys.

It is certainly easier, but if you don't know the methods of probability i.e. binomial distribution etc, there's no point

And general maths probabilities won't need you to extend your knowledge to combinatorics

Oh and don't panic if you don't know how to do a question, just skip it and come back to it. You'll have a better chance of working it out then because your brain has had time to think about the questions.

Getting a problem from word form to mathematical form is ~50% of the marks

When I did probability (wasn't general) I was told just to leave it in that nCr form and I would get full marks.
