actually i remember

the reason for this strange naming convention and the sub-dir, is in some way it stops the deletion of files i duno how but it does.. i heard a while ago,, yea uno gay ppl who enjoy deleting a file that tooke hours to upload

If a folder cannot be accessed viewed from the root, then you wouldn't be able to delete it.

But it would have to be an access-rights/permission issue, when someone is trying to delete the folders/dirs in question.

I'm not 100% on this, but it could be because of:

1. Files are being uploaded to the directories which are 'in use'
2. Folders cannot be viewed, and hence cannot be deleted.
3. Folder names, file names are too long/obscure to be 'properly' deleted via ftp commands.

That's about it,

(Sorry I'm a little tipsy from the alcohol, it's taking a while to type anything properly).

this was a bug in XP, not sure if SP had resolved it
