i read somewhere that the Canterbury Tales are good for related material. Would I have to read all of them, coz there's so many and they're so long?! If not which would be the best one/s to read?

I did The Canterbury Tales in extension.
Your best bet is to do the prologue, where the journey is introduced. If you do any of the tales, they don't quite describe a physical journey, but are stories told by a particular pilgrim.

The prologue explains where the pilgrimage is taking place, who's going, why, etc.

Go on the net and get the dual text. Once you read it in modern English, you'll get it in old English.
