Car Key - 2001 Lancer Coupe (1 Viewer)

Hey guys, I was told that factory keys for that model Lancer contains a microchip, therefore it cannot be copied from a regular mint, is that true?

Well, mines went through the wash and it still works, so I guess it doesn't have a microchip?

But then again, isn't the plastic covering suppose to be sealed water tight?

does your car have an immobiliser?
if so, your key is chipped.

well if it is true that your car key is chipped, you should of gotten a code with the keys.. which you bring back to your manufacturer/dealer (or maybe someone else?) if you need a new key cut.. well that was with my old 01 corolla
