what kind of career opportunities are there with a commerce and law degree, besides private legal practice? because i've learnt that with commerce and law you can work in a range of fields including non-legal areas, but what kind of other jobs are really out there?

From what I was told at various open days, any law degree has a variety of non legal areas possible, since a significant amount of law grads don't practice as solitcitors or barristers.

sometimes i really don't want to answer these questions... people should do their own research. it's their career, not mine. if HSC grads can't search on google / uni websites / these forums, then no amount of spoonfed advice can save them.

however, as a start, perhaps these:

"Law Graduates Booklet", Graduate Careers Australia, 2003

Summary of Law Graduates, GradsOnline, 2004

UNSW LawSoc Alternative Careers Guide, 2005

UNSW LawSoc Summer Clerkships Guide, 2004

play time is over - don't expect any more spoonfeeding in uni :p
