Re: Cars

guys technical question: I have a daily driver '98 nissan pulsar n15 and recently the ride of the car has become bad. Going over speed bumps and potholes destroys u and is violent on the wheels. I'm wondering what is needing replacing? the springs? the shock absorber or do i need a whole new system put in place? I am looking into coilovers but am wondering on whether they are really necessary since the car is old and only used for daily drives to the station and back.

Re: Cars

Could be a lot of things, bit hard to diagnose online with symptoms like that and I doubt any of us could anyway.

I wouldnt put coilovers on for the sake of it.

Can you describe how the ride has become bad, what are the characteristics? It could be some of the bushes

you know when you go over a speed bump, most of the impact is absorbed and you can go over it at a decent speed. Here when i approach it too fast it absorbs no impact and feels like there's nothing left in the suspension. Same with coming off the speedbump. I have to go over it at like 2kmh

Re: Cars

Jack your car up using mechanical stigs super fast jacking technique and see for yourself what really the problem is.

Shocks are gone. With decent shocks (e.g bilstein) you can re gas them but considering its just a basic car just buy some new shocks for it. You can pick some up for $200-300ish? Fronts are a bitch to put in if its a macpherson strut

i don't wanna install em myself since it seems too complicated, what do u recommend i do? Should i purchase them and get a mechanic to install? I got quotes from mechanics and they give prices of $1000+

You need a comfy ride so I guess it's vital that you need to find a solution to this bumpy ride.
