... really piss me off.

I'm not talking the ones where only one light is faulty- I'm saying all the brake lights are faulty (either that or they weren't braking at all)... today was tailing a 4WD with trailer which obscured brake lights on the 4WD, and the trailer's brake lights weren't working (but indicators were?). It was scary because I couldn't figure out why I was getting so close when I was maintaining constant speed and the car in front wasn't braking on the downhill.

I don't mind if ppl have dodgy cars or broken bits... but without working brake lights, it's bloody dangerous.

Yeah I've followed many like that.. I think I pointed one out in the road rage thread..

I got confused as well.. I wanted to yell out to the fag to tell him to change his lights already

The thing is... if someone's got faulty brake lights (I've seen heaps of people with the back right brake light not working), is there any indicator inside the car?

The problem is you don't know if they're light is/isn't working until you slam down the breaks as they slow down without their lights going on. I guess you could keep a distance away, say 2-3 seconds gap so you don't get caught out.

I know people who barely even notice the temp guage, let alone take heed when the faulty light bulb light comes on.

Haha I guess that's a pretty good reason to follow the 3 second gap rule... I could never fathom the real point of that under most circumstances since if you leave such a large gap, chances are another car will slide into that gap and then you have to slow down even further.

Let's hope they notice the fuel guage then

Hehe.. I got 5.. did you include the one in the middle?

I reckon that's the best invention.. especially on the vans with dull light covers.. you don't really notice it when they do step on brakes since it doesn't get much redder..

No, but most cars have a faulty lightbulb indicator. Whenever one shorts out in the car's whole electrical system, this light comes on.

Nah I only have 4..... the two normal brake lights, the spoiler brake light and the one inside the car on the back window.

Hmmm well my car recently had a brake light out, although its not a new car (94), nothing came up. The light was in a bad shape to, all of the inside had melted, must have been a power surge or something :|

Do you have both your spoiler brake light and the light in the back of your car (behind the glass) on at the same time? Honda disabled mine.

Yeah both work, its kinda useful cos you can see it inbetween the spoiler and the boot when braking.

My cars lit up like a chistmas tree as a result when it comes to braking, no excuses if someone hit me from behind!

Hmm... on my car you can't really see the one in the back with the spoiler in the way- maybe if I was on an uphill and the car behind me was on the downhill they'd be able to see it? *shrugs*

Normally, if you arent driving on someone ass, then you might be able to see the brake lights of the car in front of the car in front of you. If you are driving behind someone with a respectable gap, you can tell if you're going to have to brake soon regardless of when the car in front brakes.

What annoys me is when people have faulty headlights...

I often drive home at night on country roads, and it is really annoying/dangerous having one light bright as all fuck, and the other one you can only *just* see

Alot of cars seem to have that though... I thought maybe it was intentional so that it doesn't blind other drivers but remains bright for pedestrians or something? *shrugs*
