Hey, I have an essay on changing self due in about a week or so. Im looking for a text (a book) that not many people has done, but that's also interesting, so I won't be bored out of my brain reading through it. Not classics, more like Ender's Game etc.

Any help would be really appreciated!

You're in luck. We did "The Crucible" last year and here are some ideas to get you started:
*major element of odd one out
-basis of theocracy throughout
-emerging and formation of groups in society
-hypocracy
-scapegoating
-individuals against the system (also individual vs majority)
-parallel with the socio-political context of the said text , i.e namely Sentor Joseph McCarty's drive to cleanse America of communist spies
I hope that helped
:)

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, but I'm not sure if alot of them really relate to my topic "Changing Worlds". So far I've only got:
A whole new world (Aladdin)

Any other suggestions? Preferbly a visual but anything would do (besides a poem). Thanks in advance!

do you reckon Nelson Mandela's "A long walk to freedom" is a changing self text? I'm thinking of using it for one big arse assessment i have coming up. I'm also using "a room with a view" (film version) and i need a visual one, any ideas??

I'm doing:

Straight Lines by silverchair
and the films Little Miss Sunshine and American History X.
I've gotten some good ideas for mine through this thread, take a look through all the pages.

  • the breakfast club
  • pride and prejudice (book also)
  • sisterhood of the travelling pants (book also). actually, number 2 would prob be better for this

Hey,

We're doing changes of perspective for our prelim course (even though the coursework is going to change next year =( ) and we have to find a poem or short story that we could annotate and write an analysis on.

Does anyone have suggestions about a poem that has a fair amount of techniques to write on to fill 2 A4 pages =D??
