May I ask why?

It probably won't cause any harm unless you're connected to a network/domain where there are security permissions etc set that rely on the SID, in which case you may find yourself unable to access certain network resources.

If you are connected to a domain (much like what schools, universities, workplaces etc have) and access stuff over a network, from what I understand the SID is what identifies certain users as having certain security permissions (determining what they're allowed to access, such as certain network shares). If you're in a normal home environment chances are you WON'T be running a domain so this shouldn't be an issue, so don't worry too much about it.

I suppose with what you've been describing, programs may also check the SID to validate who it has been registered/activated to, and so changing it would effectively make those programs "unactivated". If you're running Windows you could try System Restore (Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> System Tools -> System Restore) to a date before you made the change. Other than that, I can't really help.

you know, if you really bought windowblinds and lost the activation, contacting stardock with your registered email address would have done the job.
...but on the other hand, if you didnt prefer to do that (*wink wink*), you still could have installed it without editing your SID.

editing of the SID can cause other software which depend on it to screw up so its not a wise move.

ps windowblinds rock
