I Was Looking Forward To Do Biology And Pd/h/pe, But Now Our School Gave Out Our Subject Selections And They Were Both On The Same Line. Since I Have More Of A Passion And Interest For Pd I Didnt Choose Biology So Now I Have To Choose Another Science
I Need Help With Which Of Physics Or Chemistry Should I Choose And Which One Is Easier And Better To Understand?

Well you can't say which one is easier because both are different, and you learn different things.
Physics is for the people who have a keen interest in maths, or are math type people, in physics you have to learn many formulae, theories, laws etc
Chemistry is just normal science, not much maths required, just need to reactions, some formulae and theories etc. Chemistry also allows you to enter university with a more choices of courses because most of the subjects are chemistry based and are required for a prerequisite or assumed knowledge. That does not mean you can't do chemistry type courses in university but it'll be easier because then you don't have to do bridge course

Honestly i would have understood physics much more than chemistry, but i couldn't and didn't want to do physics because it was on the same line as my japanese continuers line so i couldn't do it. But i do chemistry and biology, chemistry is REALLY boring in year 11 but when in year 12 *thumbs up*. Biology is interesting altogether.

In terms of scaling chemistry scales much more than physics, but as people say and as i say, you don't do subjects for they scaling. If your biology and PE were in different lines it would be good because both are related to each other. So yeah. Good luck in choosing your subjects.

I found Chemistry easier to understand than Physics, probably because my teacher thoroughly explained everything. Physics is considered much harder and I experience a lot of problems in Physics. I found the maths content in Physics no where near as easy as maths.

I found chem to be extremely boring... Phys was much better for me... And I'll have to disagree with people saying that there is a lot of maths in physics and that the maths is hard. There is more theory than calculation in physics, and for the questions requiring maths, all you have to do is substitute stuff into formulas and use your calculator... not complex maths stuff...

Im one of the top maths students in my school and maths in Physics is so weird and that is why im nearly last in physics.

Luckily I got 13 units now and I can drop physics and take up 4 unit Maths

Physics these days is much more theorectical than it was, to the extent that you now get formulae sheet in your exam, as compared to years gone by when you were expected to memorise the formula. In Physics, you look at subjects like Movement, Electricity, Waves, and Space, examining the history of those concepts, formulae related too the concepts (e.g. Speed/Distance/Time, Voltage + Current Laws, Wave amplitudes, etc.). If you want to explore why things act the way they do, i.e. how does electricity work, etc., then Physics is a decent option.

Chemistry is the study of reactions and the science behind them. You look at Metals and their properties, Water and its properties and Energy among other things. It's a look at why chemicals behave the way they do, with regard to their structure, etc. If you're interested in... umm... Chemistry, then this is a nice option to take as it does carry on well to uni.

Ultimately, it's up to you. Do what you think you'll like more.

What the hell is wrong with the the maths in Physisc?! It's even simpler than year 10 maths. Just plug it into the formula you're given and presto, there you have your answer.

I'd pick Physics, more interesting and more .. err more fun.

I was wondering that. Still in preliminary course I must admit, but I was so ripped off by all the people saying "oh physics is just like maths so hard you'll feint fainting" etc. etc...

As to physics vs chemistry....
Can you do both? They're fun!

Prelim physics is better than prelim chemistry, but hsc chem is way more interesting than hsc physics....

I'd pick chem because it's funner. Or more fun, I should say...

It depends on what you enjoy more. Chem involves more writing of equations, physics I find has a little more questions that are just pure b/s.
Although, neither course involves much mathematics these days. It's all rote learning.

ahhhh........... just do both, phys is interesting, u actually learn about stuff tats happening around you and makes u think logically about how it happen. chem is just about learning concepts and once u get them it all falls into a puzzle.

Nope. Chemistry is the same. They're as interesting as each other.
Chem makes you really think about what's happening in the world around you too.
Eg, you fill the car with petrol and think about the burning of fossil fuels, their effects on the environment, how the petroluem is refined, how ethanol is an effective alternate fuel source, how.....Sorry, got a bit carried away there...

Definately do chemistry. im doing a health science degree and didnt do chemistry in y11 and 12 but did PDHPE/bio. CHem is harder to undertand at uni level withno chem background than physics is. BELEIVE ME!!
