I did my chemistry exam paper last week and im really stressed out about some of the answers. I would just like to see what everyone else put. Especially on question 21)a) This question related to the trends in the periodic table i think they were melting and boiling pt, ionisation energy and atomic radius. b) related to a specific trend i think it was on atomic radius or ionisation energy down a group. I would like to see what everyone put down for thier answers. Your help will be so useful, it will calm me down.

what specific trend did you have to write about

In mine I had to describe the trends in all three going across the periodic table
It should be in a text book, if not I've got a sheet that has all the trends, going up and down the table.
I think mine were atomic radius, ionisation energy and yeah that other thing

wasnt the next part to that question where you were given a specific trend to explain in further it was out of 3 marks

how did you find th question on bonding, and comparing the details from a crustalline diagram. were the two structure i think ionic bond and covalent network. is that what you put?

I think I just put the differences in their strengths due to the positioning and structure of the atom, and their differeing densities. I cant remember, I didnt think carbon dioxide? was in a crystal like bond

how did you go in describing the bonding and boiling point, and solubility of water. I found it hard to talk about the solubility wat did you put down fro that part.

a) i think MP and BP decreases as you go across the period; ionisation energy increases as you go across cuz the electrons are closer to the nucleus, thus harder to rip off; and the atomic radius decreases cuz the number of protons increases as you move from left to right, so it pulls the electrons in towards the nucleus, making the radius of the atom smaller.

b) we had something like relating one of the trends (MP & BP, i think) to one of the groups. i chose group 4 and said that the MP and BP decreases as you go down the group cuz the metals are at the top, and they have relatively higher MP BP cuz they're metals, whereas the non-metals are towards the bottom and they're MP BP is lower. can't remember exactly...

i think water has hydrogen bonds (a stronger type of polar bonds). boiling point of water is 100 degrees celcius and i think it's higher than ammonia and hydrogen sulfide? ooh, i can't remember. don't know about solubility of water though... :(
