The 'brown stuff' is silver oxide. It wears off skin in time, but can be removed from fabrics with a dilute solution of cloudy ammonia - just by careful to make sure that ammonia doesn't alter the colour (if any) first.

Thanks, but I'm even more sure that the answer is yes.

BTW - I discovered the solution to the silver oxide on clothes problem when an accident with silver nitrate solution in a first year lab left me with a brown stain on my shirt. Note that hydroxide is produced, so the shirt should be rinsed with plenty of water afterwards, and then washed properly.

it shits me constantly when people ask for my notes when i know all theyve done is sit around and make excuses. you're in bloody senior school. its about time you take responsibility for your work. you chose to go to return to school after year 10. you dont learn anything anyway by using other peoples notes which defeats the whole purpose of schooling anyway. how would YOU like it if your friends relied on you for their work?

I know what you mean too. But this hasn't happened to me yet this year but in previous years.
I still let them borrow or photocopy my notes though. Hoepfully they will do the same for me in the future.
But it does become annoying..very annoying
