Hey guys!
Just wondering if any of you are doing 'Child Abuse...' next semester as an elective at Bankstown. I'm really annoyed - the only lecture that is on the timetable is at 8am on a Thursday morning. I live over an hour and a half away from uni and this would mean an extremely early morning for me. I'm emailing the lecturer on Monday to see what she says about moving the lecture, some how I don't think I'll have much luck.
Any thoughts? Anyone had this trouble before??

yeah unfortunately things like this happen at uni, I'm not doing that particular subject, but I have had early starts, and I do live about the same distance from bankstown campus by public transport. I don't think you'll have much luck getting them to move the lecture, the time was probably chosen for a reason, to avoid other clashes etc. My only suggestions would be to either go ahead with the subject with its early starts, or choose another elective if you can. By all means you can see if you have any luck getting it moved, but if you can't get it moved, you really only have two choices...deal with the early mornings, or switch subjects :)

Yeah, another prob. is being given like 1hr to get between campuses for comp. lectures.. which doesn't give much time at either end...

We had an 8am lecture last year at Richmond, and because people lived as far away as Hurstville and catch the train, they needed to get up at like 4am. We harassed the lecturers until we got it changed. Maybe if enough people complain, they can move the lecture even just half an hour later.

Either that, or just don't show up to lectures :p

yeah... its a bitch to get there early but seriously... unless a large amount of students complain just suck it up coz the uni ain't too big on accommodating a few people.. if you're real worried by it post something on campus connection and see if anyone else is on the same wavelength...

friends i have who have 8 am classes don't all hate it - 2 girls who work as well got the shits when all these people complained coz they can't really do uni and work unless its early classes and can't afford to not work... so i mean... there's always gonna be some people unhappy....

so i mean... if i were you shit as it'll be - save any complaints to lecturers until you've got a big enough group coz i can see them just seeing you or a small group as an annoyance and may not take you seriously and it would kinda ruin any chance you have of gettin it changed:)

my first day at uni is tue and no classes till 2pm btu then on friday its a 2 subject day, starting at 8am and finishing at 5 pm ~ 9 hr day....boo hoo hoo. In the last week of hols, im just gonna practice weaking up early, lik ereally early. I hate it when you have differemnt time on different days, it stuffs up your sleeping patterns and other bodily functions.

why drop out of uni? just use your electives and do the cores for the other subject. im sure you can drop them, it'll take time from admin but im sure you can.

For an 9am lecture, I think I'll catch the 6am train, so I can get the early train to uni, so I can have breakfast before class. I get up so early, that its even too early for breakfast! lol.

Nah, this semester I have 4 days, I did have three until the stupid tourism department screwed around with the timetables

ooo ... buying a new car ... thats cool!! I love buying new cars ... not that I have bought any, bah ... I need driving lessons :(

Atleast its not across different campuses this time. All at Richmond. I'm not a morning person, if they had night tourism classes I would so take them! Except I'd never get home. I will probably get used to travelling again at like week 13 or something :p Hopefully this semester there will be plently of work to do on the train!

uh...that's what i meant - go to bed earlier during the week so you can do stuff on the weekends instead...

i still don't get how going to sleep a little earlier so you can wake up earlier doesn't help... at 1st, duh, u ain't gonna be used to it so you probly won't be able to get to sleep as well but you will after a few weeks.....

I'd go to sleep earlier, but I dunno, I'm a night person :p

I guess its my own fault for living 100km from uni ... ok, I'm going slightly over board with 100km, but it would be about that much by train, I know its like 60km from home to uni by car though.
