I'm thinking about purchasing a laptop. I don't own a PC (apart from the family one) at the moment, so I will need the laptop for gaming, internet use, video, word processing and the occassional video and image editing.

I'm not looking for anything expensive. I've got my eye on the Macbook Pro's (the 2.2ghz one), but that's pretty costly for me. Any feedback and recommendations are appreciated!!

Gaming with a Mac isn't too flash hot by anystretch of the imagination, but the processing speed on the pros are.

I purchased a Toshiba (a200/g01) and it does what i want it to do, play the occasional game, and serve as a place I can do work/etc without fucking around to much. Though, I am kinda regretting the screen size, think long and hard about what you want it for, 15.4" screens are massive and heavy.

The normal Macbooks are quite good for the price, as is the Dell XPS M1530, good all rounder.

edit: Oh and make sure whatever you're grabbing has a 7200 RPM hard drive or else you'll notice the slowdowns, particularly if you're planning on doing anything video related.

To be honest, my main priority is getting something that will be able to store my music and has excellent sound quality. By gaming, I mean stuff like Halo 2, The Sims 2 etc. Nothing too 'high-end', I don't think. The Dell's look good, I was looking at an Inspiron and the XPS one's today... are the embedded speakers in the Dell's good?

what is the most that you are willing to spend? Asus is good value for money so ill definitely look into that. Dell aernt too bad either and should be slightly cheaper than asus when the same specs are compared.

Have a look here to see which fancy your tastes.
