Hey Everyone..

At the moment I am quite interested in becoming a civil engineer although I still have a few questions for anyone willing to give me advice:
  • How do I become a Civil Engineer..?
  • What ATAR is required..?
  • What is the Assumed Knowledge..?
  • Which University would be best..?
  • How many years does the degree go for..? Then what..? Further Study, Straight into Employment, etc..?
  • Job Prospects within Australia..?
  • Any Other Useful and/or Relevant Information..?
Thankyou in Advance :spin:

1. Usually a bachelors degree at uni or you can even do it at tafe.
2. Depends on uni, but usually 70-80+
3. Extension maths and physics
4. Uts, university of Sydney, unsw
5. 4-5 years, then it's up to you
6. pretty good

1. Uni. Tafe won't cut it (not to become a proper/registered/chartered engineer anyway).
2. 90
3. Math Ext 1, Physics, Chem
4. USYD/UNSW/UTS
5. 4 (5 at UTS). Then you get a job.
6. Good

I know a couple people who done engineering at tafe, not sure if it worked out though.
You don't really need 90, from what I have been told from engineering students on Bos, you can get in with like 75 atar at uts and like 80-85 at unsw. You also don't need chem, unless you want to do chemical engineering.

Thankyou, although which University do you believe is the best and I didnt think Chem was assumed knowledge..?

Without Kaz1 I would've been ROFLMAO

I also dont get this..?

Clissold chose not to do MX1 and he dropped chem at the beginning of HSC. lol
This is true, however I do believe that I could do a bridging course for MX1 and, as for Chemistry, I wouldnt need it because I want to do CIVIL Engineering and not CHEMICAL Engineering

UNSW would be the best for civil imo, you don't need chem but it would be handy.
