i was reading the equipement checklist section under the HSC timetable...and it says

Software Design and Development
(optional) a flowchart template

Please note that calculators are NOT permitted.

and i NEED to use the calculator to do my option topic!!!!

were you guys allow to use calculators?????????
and does anyone know where can i get the flowchart template?

umm if you mean chapter 10 - developers view of the hardware no you do not need a calculator at all and you in no way need it for the other option topic

obviously we all pray to use a calc in our software devs view of hardware but no go mate

besides its not that hard without a calculator

Yeah, you don't need a calculator for the option chapter. The hardest things to do (converting to binary and finding out the binary form of a fraction) can be done by simply working it out.

yeah true but maybe we have all become dependant on our trusty calculators u know wat i mean?
ahh well we did without calculatorz for the trials and we can do it again for the HSC. =0)

Blame maths classes for maken us dependant on our calculators lol.

why in god's name do u want one

first of all doing flow chart for algorithms is stupid, tedious and too many pages, and second if u wanna do flowcharts why do u wanna sit there tracing the shapes when u can draw it freehand quicker than using one.

one of the questions was "identify this shape" and i forgot if it was manual input or one of the other manual things. the template has the shapes and the names of all the symbols.

Yeh thats exactly what i use the templates for too. Instead of memorising all different types of symbols.

i found the last one at my newsagent, thought they didnt have it till i asked them. they didn't kn0w wat i was on about so they took a box with all those templates and i saw it. ehheeh

That couldn't have been from a recent (01/02) exam. Was it from a 2u Computing Studies one?

apparently it was in 2003 CSSA as a multiple choice. but independant made us draw parts of a flowchart, so i had to make sure i was using the right symbol.

lol, not if your calculator can convert binary to decimal, etc...

thats why they are banned

besides, YOU HAD TO SHOW WORKING
so no point having a calculator.. maybe to chck your answer

its not hard to do it urself its just like primary skool division (or addition)
