We get to choose between Bladerunner/Brave New World, Emma/Clueless and Hamlet/Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead. We get to change classes for that unit if our teacher is teaching something we don't want to do.
I'm doing BR/BNW, haven't seen BR but the book isn't too bad once you get past the first couple of chapters.

im doing hamlet/ros and guil
and my teacher is always cracking the shits cause we bitch that we don't understand hamlet,
but ros & guil, i like they think lots, a lil like my teacher, and there minds wander, like someone i know,

has nebody gotta give a speech where u explore a character, where u explain the role and motivation behind ur characters actions in the plays, and how they have been transformed,???

im thinking of doing the player, but is there much a 'transformation' there???

Hamlet/Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead
I love the way Ros summarises the entire script of Hamlet in 5 lines and then goes "so what's your problem again?"
:D

The Player is such a different character in R/G!
He is extremely important - a voice for Stoppard really.
It would be a really good choice....

I wouldn't have minded doing Brave New World and Bladerunner--I read the book in Year 10 and I loved it--soma....mmmmmm...that's my idea of Utopia (being sarcastic). But it was a terrific book.

Anyway, I'm doing Hamlet and R+G are Dead, and we've only just started, so I have no idea what it's gonna be like.

For those people who are doing Hamlet and Ros and Guil, I thought it was extrememly cool and once you understand the concepts/themes, there will be nothing that can stop you getting great marks for this module. I did it last year and first hated it but then loved it cos it was my strongest module. And I got stuck with studying Hamlet AGAIN this year for uni .
Good luck

BNW is the most hideous book i've ever read. I feel sick when they're talking about the primary school kids having sex in the bush.. thats yukky to think about!! when mustapha mond calls the girl a 'fine specimen'.. thats child pornography not good literature!

I dont really understand the 'in the wild' thing, i dont actually think theres that much reference to mans relationship to nature in the book.. its a bit obscure.

ALSO: I HATE BRAVE NEW WORLD!!!

sure if your not doing Brave New World and Blade Runner you'd want to, i can understand you liking the book, but blade runner was so confusing, does everyone have to watch the diretors cut? and do you think Decard is a replicant? its just so trippy!!
i envy all those who get to do clueless and emma, they are classics!!
i don't like the book or the movie, but i still have to do thm\em though

and yes, i also find bladerunner confusing

Yeah, I'm doing Hamlet/Ros and Guil. In agreeance with most people, Ros and Guil is fairly easy to grasp, and Hamlet is just boring. I had to watch the Branner version of Hamlet also, as well as selected parts of the Mel Gibson version...that was very boring! Sometimes when my friends and I are feeling nerdy, we play the Ros and Guil question game...it combats boredom ok; for about 5 mins anyway.

i'm doing Hamlet and Ros and Guil are dead.
I'm finding it fairly easy to grasp all the ideas in hamlet, but Ros and Guil are dead is confusing me alot, and i have no idea why they're doing what they're doing half the time, because none of it makes any sense! Right now, i'm meant to be doing as essay on it, but i can't get it done, because i have no idea what the question is really asking!

I thought Blade Runner (Director's Cut) was one of the worst movie's i have ever watched.

AFTER 10 minutes, you think this is goin to be a good story line.

Then u see all those wierd gothic people and the whole movie has taken a turn for the worse
