Yes and I’m doing coding next termThere’s memes abt this?
I’m doing commerce/comp sci and thinking of going the cyber security route unless AI overtakes itYour cooked glBtw what degree(s) are you doing?
My dad does cyber security he says that the job market is ass cause they have a shortage but yet they’re so specific with the people who they employ and it’s hard to get a job. My dad hasn’t had a proper job in a while and has resorted to owning a business instead and he says that he regrets cyber secuirtyI’m doing commerce/comp sci and thinking of going the cyber security route unless AI overtakes it![]()
Oops maybe I’ll go the AI/ML engineer route thenMy dad does cyber security he says that the job market is ass cause they have a shortage but yet they’re so specific with the people who they employ and it’s hard to get a job. I don’t have to choose my major until the end of first year I think but yea degrees u can if u apply for IPT (internal program transfer)is it possible to change degrees/majors midway?
hm..apparently quite a lot of people, when they go to uni and start studying law it's very different from what they imagine it to be so they end up changing degrees. On a side note idk why what the hype around law is. Like I get some people doing it but why does everyone in the whole universe want to do law. I swear like every 2nd person I ask wants to do law. Like honestly I don’t see how people find it that interesting
imagine this same take but with psychologyOn a side note idk why what the hype around law is. Like I get some people doing it but why does everyone in the whole universe want to do law. At unsw, commerce first year is an integrated first year which I think is simialr to engineering flexible first yearCan you only change the major if you do a flexible degree? Idk cirrus was doing a flexible degree of engineering and from what I understand you specialise after first year
I mean psych is honestly 10x more interesting. If there was a good job market I would have considered doing itimagine this same take but with psychology
But like what makes people wanna do law in the first place. Like what even makes it seem interestinghm..apparently quite a lot of people, when they go to uni and start studying law it's very different from what they imagine it to be so they end up changing degrees.
Oh. I think someone said somewhere here recently that the drop out rate for law was high or smth that's why most unis make u do a combined undergrad degree w/law and something else
I’m not sure but for my first year commerce and comp sci I have to complete the general core courses no matter what major I do so there’s no reason to pick it until 2nd year. Engineering is different because u can choose straight up or do flexible firstCan you only change the major if you do a flexible degree? One reason is the status/salary prospects, my friend has started it but is already saying the workload is so intense. My parents thought I should strongly consider law but it’s very heavy in reading long, dense documents which I couldn’t see myself doing cuz I’m so easily distracted lolBut like what makes people wanna do law in the first place. But no way would someone put themselves through all that pain if they didn’t enjoy it. Also even some people who aren’t that academic and probably don’t care that much abt status wanna do. I swear people genuinely think it’s interestingOne reason is the status/salary prospects, my friend has started it but is already saying the workload is so intense. Tbh at least from people I know there’s stuff like parental pressures and people who feel like they should do it even if they don’t necessarily want to. Like for me if I followed my passions I’d be in a veryyy different degree, but I kinda picked the middle ground where I was interested but could still earn well. People may defo think it’s interesting and some genuinely do have the passion for it but a few are also unaware of the amount of work it takes until they’re actually in the degreeBut no way would someone put themselves through all that pain if they didn’t enjoy it. Probs either architecture (apparently job market here is cooked) or something in a creative field (film, design, etc.)What would u have picked if u went for ur passions?
Omg we lowkey have similar interests! I wanna do design but idk how secure the job market is so I wanna do a double degree in commerce. One of my dreams is to also be a rich business owner and maybe write a non fiction book abt my life or like a guide sort of thing to business or lifeProbs either architecture (apparently job market here is cooked) or something in a creative field (film, design, etc.)
Gonna try write books on the side since I’ve wanted to publish one since I was very young :,)
