dis is actually worth 10%
what is this bullshit?
they mark you every week for 10 weeks
so basically you get 10 marks
if you participated in class discussion for 10 weeks
so if u stay quiet in your little corner and get full marks in your assignments and final exam.. you still lose your 10% of class participation meaning you'll only get 90%

n e wayz how da hell would the tutorial keep track on who participated and who didnt???
i mean wat if heaps of ppls participated for different questions
and how would the tutor even know everyones names
blardy hell

Most tutors will get to know you within the first few weeks. Hell, my Psych tutor has already given me a nickname :|

See it as 10 easy marks.

Even if you get full marks in Assignments and exams, you would still get 90% - meaning a high distinction.

dont u need to do ur reading before classes?......or is it a bit different in uws?......coz at UOW we are supposed to do our prescribed readings before the tutorials, and then we generate class discussion about what we've read.....

Its not that hard to participate. Even if u r wrong, they don't go completely nuts at you. In my sustainability tutorial there are only like 3 ppl out of 20 who actually participate.
