anyone got notes on his poems???
all 4 of them or some of them would be greatly help..hahah in class i wasnt even paying to the teacher lecturing about his poem..i hate poetry..

is imaginative journey the hardest??

I'd definately say that imaginary journeys are the hardest!

I'm doin inner journeys (which are so easy by the way) and I'm helpin a mate who is doin imaginary and pretty much all I can do is sit back and say goodluck on ur hsc coz ur gonna need it!

i think inner is alright and phyical journey is easy and has all three journey or other journey involve ..i tihnk its broad..

imaginative journeys is COMPLEX but not HARD, if u work with it and not against it then it gives u alot of scope to think about and analyse...provided u pay attention in class that btw would solve 80% of ur problems. theres no point in zoning out in class and then hopping on BoS to ask for the same things that u would learn in class

=) haha yea true that.But if you were in my class where things drags on for 3 lessons, when it suppose to be only for one period i think u would need help haha. And when the teacher walks around the room alot and spends more time talking to students about non related thing lol..and hardly take it that serious then thats a prob.

put ur hand up like a true nerd...hehe lol...and ask for help personally...she or he wouldnt be able to say no. and yeah i know about the socialising teachers who wander and chit chat...so bloody annoying...well, listen to what u can salvage in class and then ask for extra help after class or else get a study guide and look for notes on the net (by this i dont mean BoS cos u wouldnt get much from here yet cos this is the first yr of journeys and all)

1 - hey ppl wat wud be a good plot for a short story on imaginative journeys?? im so hopeless at creative writing. and,

2 - whose studying the rime of the ancient mariner by coleridge? wat wud be a likely response to, "What does this poem suggest 2 u about imag. journeys?"

Im studying Coleridge at the moment, i think he is a really interesting poet, my fav poem of his is "Kubla Khan"...i give you a lil bit of info on that poem...

- The journey in the poem is a journey of awareness through the acts of his imagination Coleridge is able to explore the tragedy of humanitiy. It makes us aware of how far our imagination can really take us and the limits we have imposed upon ourselves.

-This is the crisis of the poet - to suffer visions of perfectiob but to be unable to bring perfection out of the imagination into his work (being a Romantic poet this would have been very frustrationg for him)

-The power to create perfection lies with God alone - mankind can only witness it.

-The composer also suggests that if such a person could carry that level of creation they would be part god part demon and cause havoc on the world, "And close you eyes with holy dread/ For on honey dew hath fed,/And drunk the milk of paradise."

-REMEMBER: perfection is not possible; harmony cannot last in the world of humanity!!!!!!!

This is just the tip of the iceberg...i suggest if your teacher can't help you why dont you go out and by some books on Coleridge and read up on some criticims of his work???

i like doing imaginative journeys...its really interesting...we did coleridge last term, as well as Mulholland Drive and 2001: A Space Odyssey as related texts. it was really cool.

yea on spark notes i think there's some but it wont let u get in..haha ..it's hard to find notes..esp. relating to imaginative journey. don't you just hate being the first to do the area of study haha

I just wanted to thank ale1986.

I wasn't even looking for anything in particular, i was just reading this meassage thread to see if i could help re: 'Ancient Mariner' and i realised that your first point you gave on 'Kubla Khan' is just what i've been trying to figure out. It links Kubla Khan and 'The Never Ending Story' (the film version)! Cos it's all about the limitations of human imagination , "Fantasia is the world of human fantasies...therefore it has no boundaries." That and the fact that some kid has to go on a quest (hence journey). You should watch it if you ever need a supplementary text.

I had to to a creative writing task & I came up with a story that didnt quite suit the question - it needs a little wok but maybe it will help??

Basicly its about an author who goes on an imaginative journey through her/his memories and remebers a "imaginative place" which he/she used as a safe haven as a kid - and then the journey is how that imaginative place led to the authors stories.

Its not the best idea but iI hope it helps or gives u other ideas

1st of all u have to know what is the imaginative journey - there are 2 main ones
The ancient mariner - he journeys through his memories
the Wedding Guest - He imagines the story & so goes through the journey in his mind.

You can say that it suggest that there is a resolution or point to an imaginative journey - that in some way it teaches a story. Basicly it shows what a powerful thing an imagintive journey is - You can say this because at the end it says the wedding guest is changed.

Ditto Alex. I finally got around to seeing mulholland drive actually - a bit confronting for me (as to be expected!) but it was still really good - very easily linked with kubla khan. Did you use both of those as your related texts in your half yearlies or did you use other ones?
