AFAIK, it's still being approved for the majority of engineering courses, and should be offered in this years uac entry.

BCom/BE(Soft Eng) is a popular choice ...
not software... eng like chem, biomed or mechatronics
BTW, I think BCom/BE(Soft Eng) is the only course listed on the prospectus for international students.. a friend of mine took that booklet
in the 2005 prospectus for local students it mentions engineering and com but it's subject to approval

mm do u know if in the course selection form that we give to UAC, we choose specifics if we do double deg, like what branch of eng and what branch of com we do?

Enroll in the engineering degree and then later on you can choose to add on the commerce.

my friend is doing photovoltaics..and wanted another degreee as a backup (as such) and they (eng fac) told him last year that there was likely going to be a commerce/eng course....but that has yet to eventuate.....
he could have done commerce this year but the eng fac told him it would be better to do the engineering course first.....so......who knows what is going to happen with it...
because the new on the eng fac website was posted like sept 2003...which has been a while ago....

As I understand, enroll in the engineering degree, then transfer to the combined degree when it becomes availiable, probably in a year or so.

umm...about 30 or so pple do it....
the future?? according to him, it depends really...right now it aint so big...but maybe in 10 or more years time, there will might be a big demand for it....
and of course, if fussion ever graces the earth....photovoltaics is as good as dead but that aint likely to happen for a while....
thats why he wanted comm as a backup degree..hehe
