Whats the deal with combined degrees.

Im thinking about doing a combines Computer Eng/BA Science.

Is it a good move doing a combined degree?

How do they work? do you just do both at the same time, like is there alot more work?

Any help would be appreciated.

A combined degree is as much work as doing two seperate degrees, but in a lot shorter time.

They work because subjects genrally have enough electives to let you take subjects from another degree. Say you want to do two subjects, A and B. For A's elective units you do B's subjects, and for B's elective units you do A's subjects. So you can do two degrees quite fast.

Normally you will start with one in the first year, do around half/half in the second, all of one inthe third, all of the other in the fourth and then finish off in the fith year (assuming a five year combined degree).

If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

ah, i get it. i wasnt sure how they could fit another subject into just the extra year, but it makes sense using the electives.

do people normally reccommend doing combined degrees? im thinking it'll be worth chucking biomed onto my computer engineering.
