That depends on what your initial course is. Some courses will require you to study more than others. It also depends on your prior knowledge of the degree, since some subjects you may do in first year, you may have learnt some of the concepts in school.
Such as if your doing IT, if you did IPT and/or SDD in school, then the first semester of the IT course will be easier for you. If your doing Business and you did Business Studies and/or Economics then the Accounting and Economics subjects may seem easier for you as well.
If you have a strong interest in the initial course you end up doing, then you will also probably do better in that course. Most lecturers will say around 4-10 hours outside of uni time per subject, but it really depends on how much you understand during the uni time. First year uni (especially first semester) usually isn't too challenging for most courses, so I'd say just try your best in first semester and see how much study you need.
If your transferring internally then usually your 2nd semester results are counted more heavily than your first, so you have your 1st semester to perfect your working skills.
