Interestingly, the Catholic Church doesn't consider homosexual orientation to be inherently sinful, though acts certainly are. Most conservative Protestants believe both are sinful and indeed homosexuality is always a choice and therefore always sinful.

got another question, why do catholics and protestants always at each others neck? what was the history behind it?
to sum it up the reformation. Although i dont think that they are at each others necks constantly well not anymore. the catholic church went corrupt (even the catholic church recognises this now) and there was a split

where is that from?
It's the full translation of "thou shalt not kill", and means kill whoever you want EXCEPT other Isrealites, aka God's Chosen.

Funny how things get lost in translation - like the fact that alma, young woman, was mistranslated into virgin. Even a few of the prophets got it wrong.

he Anglican Communion, Eastern Orthodoxy, Protestantism and Roman Catholicism have taught the "virgin birth," although the term "virgin conception" would be much more accurate. This has long been one of the Christianity's foundational beliefs, along with the inerrancy of the Bible; the God's inspiration of the authors of the Bible; the atonement, resurrection, and the anticipated second coming of Jesus, etc. All of the commonly used major ancient church creeds have also mentioned the virgin birth.

Most modern liberal theologians have generally rejected the virgin birth. They regard it as a religious myth that was added to Christian belief in the late first century CE and was triggered by a Greek mistranslation of the book of Isaiah from the original Hebrew. Its purpose was to make Christianity more competitive with contemporary Pagan religions in the Mediterranean region, most of whom featured their founder having being born of a virgin. Without the claim of a virgin birth, it is unclear whether Christianity could have survived.

Various polls have found that about 80% of American adults believe in the virgin birth of Jesus. This exceeds the total number of American adults who identify themselves as Christian or Muslim. In fact, 47% of non-Christian adults also believe in the virgin birth.

which version.

Translations are getting more and more accurate, they are all from the original texts too.

Nrrg, I can't find it. Either way even after the commandments were set (in the "accepted" form or otherwise), the Israelites went off under God's command and slaughtered many civilisations that were not "Israelites" (Canaanites, anyone?). Thus, thou shalt not kill other Israelites.

I'm betting you're going to say "hey, that's an opinion!", but the point is here that the Bible isn't really clear on anything, hence the Christian denominations that exist to disagree with eachother.

Thus, this thread is largely pointless.

I'd like to hear the Christian Answer to the following, if you may emtaylor:

"Is [God] willing to prevent evil, but not able? then is he impotent. Is he able, but not willing? then is he malevolent. Is he both able and willing? whence then is evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?"

CONCUR.
This thread has no merit in NCAP. A fist full of inaccurate lines purporting to be the definitive "summary" of something as deep and as complex as Christianity is universally offensive.

I hereby decree that it be locked. May this proverbial head-on-a-pike serve as a deterrent to all similar threads conceived out of the wedlock of basic intelligence.

Shoo.
