Hey i have just started to enrol in a B eng(elec)/ B Science(physics) and i have to do comp 1091 in semester 2. I didn't do software design at school but i am reasonably computer savvy, and am planning to become familiar with the linux platforms. If i do comp 1081 for the first semester it pushes my uoc up to 30 points, which i think is too much!

Is it feasible to learn beginner programming and then do comp 1091?

30uoc is considered "overloading" (that is the correct term).

Normal load for a full time student is 24uoc, you can enrol yourself in a maximum of 27uoc. Anything above that requires school permission.

COMP1091 is a "introductory" type of course as it is designed for non computing major students.
