Hi, i've been around the website for a long time, but this is my first post as a registered user and i've been hit with a pretty annoying problem.

Basically, its come to my attention that several other students in one of my classes have signed a formal complaint about my attendence in the class and seem to be planning to file it to the board of studies. I won't get into the situation right now but simply, i was wondering if anyone knew the procedures that will now be followed, or have any advice.

Ie: Will i be able to dispute these allegations made against me, what will the board do in response to this, etc.

Thanks,
Frost

I don't mean to sound like a dick, but you probably deserve it. On a more helpful note, you could probably 'dispute' the allegation or atleast get some say in it. If I were you I'd pay money to the accusers or suck their cocks or something.

I agree with the first thing Fleepbasting said. If you weren't out of line, they wouldn't take it this far.

But before I make judgements, why don't you tell us a little more about exactly what you did?

Well i was going to avoid getting into details, but i believe it has something to do with my trial result and not my attendance. I scored a 36% in my trial, lowest in the class (with alot of people scraping in around or slightly higher than 50%).

Basically, it was a terrible result and this i can admit but its no basis for trying to take me out of the course when others are achieving only such a smaller amount. My assessments and average mark for the course however tell a completely different story, with me being right on (or perhaps with my recent assessment result, higher than) the class average.

Edit: The main problem is the fact that everyones gone off and assumed that such a result will be repeated in the HSC and pull the class average down. Hopefully when the BoS review the complaint they'll see my overall results are close to or around the class average anyway and take this into consideration.

Pfft, they're afraid you'll drag them down so they're trying to disqualify your results? Keep dreaming.

"Pfft, they're afraid you'll drag them down so they're trying to disqualify your results? Keep dreaming." ^^ What Dreamerish*~ said.

Hoping to boost the class average and the scaling, which it probably would slightly due to my bad trial results.

Thanks for the support, this whole situation has been shitting me all afternoon. Additionally, this is the first time i've ever heard of a complaint. Instead i get somebody telling me that a bunch of my classmates have gone behind my back and written a formal complaint to the BoS.... almost 2 months before i sit the HSC

I don't understand how people can be so stupid.

Really, you have nothing to worry about. The teachers are probably cracking up in the staffrooms.

Our class is quite small (no more than 10 i'd say), i'm not sure of all the results. I think the highest was in the 80's, with two other people in the class scoring right around 50 % and the rest in the 60's and 70's i believe.

The only problem in all this is that my rate of absenteeism has been particularly bad this term, but if i can establish that i've received overall average results for the class all year around in spite of my trial result, all should be fine. I was just particularly worried that i might not get a say in the matter.

Yeah, my own little class of Judases.

well.. it looks like your class has the good and bad outliers so the high outliers will usually pull the avaerage up~lol

If you get the same relative mark to the rest of the class in the hsc as you did in your assessments then it wouldn't affect their hsc at all. Plus, it doesn't matter if you're in different classes because the BoS counts the school as a whole, not the classes. Tell them all how dumb they are for thinking getting you out of the class will affect their UAIs in the slightest.
