What is that little timer thing for? When you go onto the internet on one of the faculty computers, you have to log on in their website. Then a little red window pops up with your Student number, name and a timer with a "Log out" button. What is this thing for anyway? Has it got anything to do with union fees? Is it to make sure we are "working" and not downloading things?

It's just a graphic as far as I know. The box is just there for you to log out. I didn't know they had them on the PCs. I've only seen them on UTS wireless. Probably an Engineering thing

How have they been abusing the system? Obviously if they are downloading illegal software or looking at porn they are abusing it, but are these forums counted as innapropriate? What about these two for example, which have nothing to do with uni?
