Art sExpress 2006/2007 Nominations [With Pictures!]

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

If you were some of the fine people from BOS who were nominated for Art Express!! :) This is an awesome achievemnet and it means you've produced some of the best work in the state. This means your assessment was of 45+/50 standard!

However if you did not get in i'm sure you also did very well in your works and you should be proud.

~ The Cruel Sea
A series of surreal oil paintings, simply beautiful.

~ chrismund
A series of 10 drawings, 9 philosphers and 1 self portrait evoking themes of intelligence that are beyond words. A stunning body of work that deserves my highest praise.

~ jishdafish
A series of acrylic on canvas paintings of 'nude' women in an almost surreal fashion, using cool whites, blues, a bit of red and some purple accordingly... beautiful, simple and divine...

~ hazaar
Sculpture (documented forms) with macro and landscape shots. Features a very artistic looking stick, i'm not sure what the meaning is, but it looks very pretty.

Did a beautiful sounding sculpture entitled:
"Lucien a'Sleep' on the ship of bones". Sadly there are no photos, but hope to see this art at the sExpress

A marvellous work entitled:

"We may not be siamese, but we feel like it"

Artistic Statement: What would it be like to have a mirror image of yourself; someone who looks, walks, talks and acts just like you? From the moment you enter the world, an exact replica of you exists that forces you to reassess who you are as a person. Whether you are connected physically, mentally or emotionally, being a twin means not just living your life, but another person’s and throughout your entire life, your sense of self and individuality is strangled.

Being identical is a game of numbers, as before there were two there were three – a triplet brother, who even before he passed away had the ability for us all to assume one identity. My artwork depicts the notion of connectivity. It is about the special similarity that haunts both the legend and reality of identical twins; two people whom fate has dealt the same DNA.

~ stephabi
Clay Animation.. looks cool... sadly no actual footage, but progress shots...

"Ophelia: An Ephemeral Dissolution"
Printed on photographic canvas, giving it that very Milias and Waterhouse influence that I was inspired by. Here, in digital version, it looks bodgy as all hell. However enjoy it :) They're single canvases for each one. Really wish I did 5 instead of 4.

Please congratulate these people in a less than orderly manner.

Okay those nominated please upload ur work, a portion, not the entire thing? or whatever goes so I can link it here ... so 2007 and ever onwards can have an idea of the QUALITY that goes into a work that gets a 45/50 + :)

+ Josh Young...

Does anybody know if theres a way of finding out marks or nominees yet?... I guess we only get to find out all this after the HSC right?...
(Josh was contacted a friend of a friend by our art teacher... would be interesting to see who else)

Trying to get this information out of our teachers is like trying to get blood out of a stone; all i've been told is that the internally marked process diary (Development of the BOW) is usually a fair reflection of your BOW's marks.

Noooooooooooo. *kills chrisimund*

I have something even better to enter, except its an acquistion.. though $17,000 includ. aquistion for a competition is fairly ... hawt. But an acquisition? Does that allow me to ever use my pieces again? Who knows.

By the way "Chrismund", this twin business annoys me, I only realised right now that William = Bill...
xD < whatever that is, i think fits the profile.

Well basically sneaky little art teachers have leaked to their students who have to go sign forms and things regarding art express .... who in turn leak it to places like... msn, myspace and bos.

There's no official nomination as of yet, marking is still going on... and well I don't see how they can mark about 9,000 works? something like that in a week... so i'm guessing over the following couple of weeks we'll be getting word.

I'm thinking perhaps of linking these guys works if nominated so class of 2007 has an idea of the nominated standard or at least the 45/50 + standard..... cause Art Express is completely subjective.

it's not all of the pics...i had 8 in total and a whole bunch of the branches...it's a sculptury, pictury kind of BOW...based on the sculptural forms of trees..

(i never developed some deep wanky message...so just take them as they are i guess haha)

hope you like them...
