When doing conical pendulum questions (in exams), is it OK to use the formulas such as tanθ = v^2/rg and h = g/ (angular velocity)^2, without first deriving them, for simple questions where u can just sub the given values into the formula to find the answer? i know for harder q's, u need to find the components of the forces and form these into equations u can solve.

gotta derive em for exams but if ur doing exercises and getting sick of deriving it everytime, then quote it..
i like to derive to make my mind clearer..
