it states in the mathematics 4 unit syllabus on page 37 "students are not expected to do proffs, under examination conditions, which are more difficult than those involved in the Contents and skills objectives. Locus problems on the ellipse are not included"

however i have done a past HSC paper with a locus problem on the ellipse. does this mean the people making the exam can throw in whatever they fell like and not stick to the sillybus.

which past hsc paper is that? I'm sure that there wouldnt be one for the current syllabus with an ellipse locus question

good point, it was a pretty old one (i forget which one, one of my friends stole the book of me) so it would have been befor the new sillybus's
