Hi,

I'm planning to pursue PhD in the US and I'm currently undertaking Master of IT at CSE. It seems that a GPA of 3.8 is the average GPA for the students who have been offered admission to quite a few Universities in the US e.g. University of Washington.

My undergrad WAM was 76, so I was wondering what the equivalent GPA of the US standard (out of 4) is? If I use the plain simple way, it is just 0.76*4 = 3.04. As far as I know, using a 7 point scale, a 76 should be 6/7; but 6/7 = 86%. I think Macquarie uses a 4 point scale as well, is it the same as the US standard? How to convert WAM to the GPA used in the US?

Cheers,

Michael

What extra info do you need? Hmm.. with 76, I qualified for first class honours.

perhaps you would get a quicker and more definite answer if you emailed your query to the admissions centre of university to which you wish to be admitted.

How about using an A+ - E scale where C is the average grade and D is the minimum passing grade, how should it be mapped to WAM?
