Hello there, what is the difference between core computer science courses and computer science electives?

I'm really confused because I'm doing the double degree of advanced maths and computer science, but I thought they got rid of those annoying free electives in double degrees which was how you could finish in 4 years instead of 6. But if you go to this link http://www.handbook.unsw.edu.au/undergraduate/programs/2016/3946.html and scroll down about 3/4 of the page, you'll see it says the computer science requirements in dual degree mode are 66 credit points of core and 12 credit points of electives. Can someone please explain what the differences are?

Cheers.

Core is courses everyone does over the Computer Science degree. The other ones aren't free general education electives, they're electives from within the CSE faculty which are directly related to your degree as you start to specialise in an area.

Ok thanks. Pardon my ignorance, but how/where do I find out what the core computer science courses are? I can only find all the computer science courses together, but which ones are core and which ones are electives?
