Following this ridiculous statement in the Ben Folds thread:

Naylyn said:
Ben Folds does the best covers out of any musicians
I have gotten to thinking about which artists do the best covers, and what my favourite album would be comprised entirely (or almost entirely) of cover songs. Currently I'd say Bryan Ferry's first solo album, These Foolish Things, and I'll stick with it unless someone can name an album I like better than it.

I do like Nouvelle Vague's covers on her album 'Bande A Part', especially her cover of Blondie's 'Heart of Glass'.

Hey, I followed you here from the Ben Folds thread, so you better watch all the Ben-bashing! ;)

I think (and I said this on the Ben Folds thread too) that the best covers are often the really fun unexpected ones - the ones where it sounds like the musician is not just being post-modern or ironic or something, but actually really enjoying what the are doing. Which is where the Ben Folds Dr Dre cover comes in (hearing someone croon 'Bitches Aint Shit' in a dramatic whispers is the funniest!)

Other cool covers -

Scissor Sisters doing Franz Ferdinand's 'Take Me Out'
Ben Kweller doing Vanilla Ice's 'Ice Ice Baby'
Something For Kate doing Blondies' 'Hanging on the Telephone' and Jebidiah's 'Harpoon'
Placebo doing Kate Bush's 'Running up that Hill'
Almost every song on the 'I Am Sam' soundtrack, ditto the songs on 'She Will Have Her Way' with all the Finn brothers covers
I am sure their are others

Interesting parallel topic - the worst covers of all time?
I vote for Jessica Simpson killing 'These Boots are Made for Walking' and that nob he ruined Radiohead's 'High and Dry'

Senor Coconut - El Baile Aleman

That's the only album made up of covers I have on my computer, and it's a bit of fun - they're latin/samba type covers of Kraftwerk's most popular songs.

Think the type of songs that they play on Strictly Dancing (yes I know  ), and you have some idea...

I love Christopher O'Riley's CDs 'True Love Waits' and 'Hold Me to This'.

He's a classically trained pianist that plays Radiohead songs. He's also fantastic live I saw him in January.

If you're talking about people who have covered Radiohead I do believe I have mentioned covers by Christopher O'Riley.

I don't mind "Strung Out on Ok Computer" which is a string quartet playing Ok Computer but if I listen to it too long it can give me a headache. There is also another CD called "Exit Music: Songs with Radio Heads" but I've never really gotten into it, my sister is obsessed with it though.
