A cover letter is basically an introduction/ explanation of your resume and also is used to give reasons as to why you are applying for the job, what skills you have that will fit the job and ohter qualities you have that you believe an employer would hold in high regard

I applied for the Macquarie Bank 2005/2006 Summer Vacation Work Program but I didn't get it;).

same here, no interview too. Maybe they are anti-Newcastle :)

I hate that, how they take into account the UAI. They always tell us that the UAI is just a number and how it don'st reflect a person ability.

Yeah, I don't see why they care about our UAI now that we are into our second year of University and have some results behind us. The bad name Newcastle University is getting probably doesn't help either:(.
