Suvat - yes and no, its still dependent on your role at work (i.e. the management accounting module is virtually useless for me as an auditor).
fatbastard - Agree, in some modules more than others, it feels as if the ICAA are trying to constantly trick you, and that the "harder" exam questions for merit list potentials are only well-answered should you be successful in dodging the numerous tricks in the question.
That aside, yeah the Tax and Financial Reporting modules are probably the most practical and "work-related" for all professions. Right now what I've learnt in FIN through AASB 3 is directly helping me to audit a large entity's acquisition accounting methodology.
