With such firms you don't need to know what the acronym stands for. It's like DHM, DouglassHanleyMoir (Sydney's biggest Pathology firm). As long as you know the acronym you're fine.

no, any accounting firm should be fine to satisfy the practical aspect of ur qualifications, but of course its always better to work for a top firm

Well for one it sounds better to work in one, and they pay for your CA course.

That's true, bigger doesn't mean much, there's actually more pressure in work load, my sister is always filled with work, and always doing excess work at home etc... it's not easy she says.

My dad's a CPA. Doesn't mean shit all. Just do one or the other really. There are many more CPA's in Australia than CA's though.

No, not at all. You can get through twenty years in a company with a comfortable 0900 to 1800 (current business hours). Only if you want to be noticed (and hence advance in the company) you need to work a lot harder.

In my opinion, the bigger the business that you are working in, the better. The reasons are that if you really want to succeed in the international market you have to work in a Multinational Corporation and if you are aiming to work as a CEO in the future, I would say that they are only going to being seriously looking at people in important positions in large companies.
