Hi, what do yo guys think of basing the creative piece around a song?
Also, is using quotes or ideas from the song/film clip plagiarism?

If it's not quoted, then it's plagiarism. If it is, you're fine.

You can base your idea off a song, that would probably be ok. The only trouble you may come into is if it's a story-song, like The Gift by Velvet Underground.

Well, the song is based on true events. Is that fine?
And when you say to quote it, do you just put it in inverted commas, or do you need to make special mention of the song?

It should be alright.

I wouldn't use any of the lyrics as actually words in your story, unless they're something a character is saying. In which case, you would use quotation marks.
