Is 850 words for creative writing too little?

Yeah i do about 1100, just do as much as you are comfortable with in 40mins (ie if you max out at 850 then stop then). You really shouldn't be trying to finish off your creative in like 20mins and spend 1hr on the essay for eg.

Loving the 'wok count' in the title :)

Oh yeah, ignore my profile, on my brother's account.

Mine's only 550 words yet it takes up 3 1/2 of those HSC pages.

850 is pretty much perfect.

1100 is overkill.
Yeah i agree, but i can fit in 1350 words (timed myself just then) in 40mins so i thought what the hell.

It's all about how fast you write :/ I have been told though by my teachers that 800-900 is good.

yeah similar, but IMO, you'd be better off spending that time polishing your comprehension section or adding to your essay.

850 I think its good.

Mine is like 900, when I last wrote it. That is just a few sentences extra.

I've been told it's not advisable. That being said, a few high-range responses in the 2006 HSC had them. They weren't exemplar though so it could be used to discriminate between a Band 5 and a Band 6...or maybe a low and high Band 6 respectively.

way faster.
But not completely kosher, fellow 4Uer. That being said I doubt they'd take a mark off unless your being marked by Hilda von Hitlerberg the neo-nazi of grammar.

speaking of what's advisable, has anyones teachers said anything about censorship? are we allowed to swear in our creatives? and what about drugs? i'm considering writing about a journey undergone whilst on LSD, do you think i'd be marked down for that?

yeah, but i mean, BNW is a set text, and Huxley also wrote the doors of perception, which is about a mescalin trip. true we're not using the doors of perception as the set texts, but still, they endorse him as an author by using his texts? i dunno if that would make a difference at all, just seems a little hypocritical of them.
