Just so I have somewhere to say it but I've found mention of my course content in Jasper Fforde's Lost in a Good Book. Though not in itself a crime fiction piece (don't ask me to categorise it) the picotal crime of the novel features a criminal misuse of Nanotechnology (the famous "grey goo" catastrophe of Crichton's Pray).
