I was fine with this until I realised the discrepancy between my notes and another textbook. What does everyone else have for this dot point?

In my notes I have how an Australian who comits a crime in one jurisdiction is subject to their laws, but in the textbook it talk abouts crimes that take place outside any particular nation's jurisdiction.

these are crimes which take place outside a nation's jurisdiction. ie. in national waters global commons. They do not have any clear cut jurisdiction e.g. piracy, aircraft hijacking etc...
