I was wondering what approach people have taken for King Lear.
My english class has done:
-family and psychological drama
-feminist
-existentialism /absurdist

Out of those 3 did you find easier to write about and respond to?

I did my HSC last year. I found the family drama and feminist readings to be the easiest, because we studied the Richard Eyre production which is FULL of techniques related to these two readings.

The existentialist/absurdist readings relate to the Brook production the best, of course. But you'd need to do a bit of research on the notions involved in existentialism and also the Theatre of the Absurd. It's very interesting stuff, but if you don't have time, don't touch it.
