thats exactly how i'm thinknig ... honestly, i'll get about 15 % ..

whats the point of keeping it / doing the hsc exam on it, i'm going absolutely pathetic in it atm and its not going to count newai (i'm doing 11 units), so i figure might as well drop it and concentrate on 2u, no point keeping it, we still have to learn 1 more chapter in 3u (permutations), and this is going to kill my study for other subjects. and 3u revision takes up so much time

Who says I study for it, LOL!!!
That's why I'm getting the <30% for today's CSSA trial :(

because it is scaled well and will boost your UAI

If you've got enough units, then you could consider dropping it.

But getting 25/50 isn't disgraceful, at least you've tried.
It's an E2 I think,

You've done all the work up until now, which is why I'm still keeping it, another exam couldn't hurt that much, could it? :)

Ouch!

At my school, we have:
~90 doing 2U (including Year 10 and 11 accelerated)
50 or so doing 3U (including Year 11 accelerated).

My rank for Extension 1 is 20/50
Not too bad, but just as bad, considering this is one of my worst ranking subjects :(

On the flipside, however, I'm not including Ext 1 Maths and it's just one of those things I do to "fill in the time"

Only joking!
I wanted to do well, but there are other subjects to attend to

The thing is I do not think I will get 25/50, more like 15/50:mad:. Also, another exam will hurt me because it will take away time that I could use to study for tests that I might actually pass. Anyway, I will have a good hard think about it:).

By the way, do you have 14 units or can I just not add up now:rolleyes:?

Yep, I've got 14.

Some thought I had 15, when I wrote "Studies of Religion" rather than specifying SOR/I or SOR/II. My school doesn't offer SOR/II courses, so I'm stuck with 1 Unit SOR.

I'll be honest with you, and say that I am sitting on 20 out of 30 for Extension 1.

The trial was worth 40% (or 20/50 marks).
If I scored 30% out of 84, that gives 25/84 or thereabouts.

25/84 converts to just under 6 out of 20.
Meaning I'll score 26/50 IF I had scored 30% in the trial.

I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to maths,

I was thinking somewhere E3/E4.
Taken from the New South Wales Vice-Chancellors Conference Technical Committee on Scaling, "2002 NSW HSC Report on the Scaling of the NSW Higher School Certificate" (That's a mouthful).

In 2 unit courses student achievement is reported using six performance bands.

Performance band 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
Mark range 0-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80-89, 90-100.

In extension courses student achievement is reported using four Performance Bands.

For all extension courses, except Mathematics Extension 2, the marks corresponding to the four Performance Bands are given in the following table.

Performance band E1, E2, E3, E4.
Mark range 0-24, 25-34, 35-44, 45-50.

Mathematics Extension 2 students have their achievement reported using four Performance
Bands but the markbut the mark ranges are 0-49 (Band E1), 50-69 (Band E2), 70-89 (Band E3) and 90-100 (Band E4).

:)

Our school will not let us do >13 units. Anyway, 26/50 is good, I would be really happy with that. I am looking at about 15/50:mad:.

The maximum that we can do at my school is 14 units.
Our timetable/periods were created in order to cater for all units.

e.g. You've got your usual maths, english, religion allocated to a certain timeslot, and then you've got your electives. One might be doing physics while another might be doing chemistry (at the same time, just on different lines for the different classes).

I don't have any study periods, but if I had dropped 3U, I would have had 5x 45 minute study lessons per fortnight, (with the other 5 periods being allocated to Extension English). So it's nicely alloted to the number of subjects that one does, I like it :)

Our school works the same way, however, we have 54 minute periods, which is probably why we can only fit in enough time for 13 units:).

oi huy, those are aligned marks, so chill :D
if you scored raw 25/50, they should be scored to something like, E3/E4? depends..

btw, last year some teacher was trying to cheer me with an E3 band, (i missed out badly) by saying "hey, it's the second highest band in the state!"

didnt know what to say then :)

I didn't take it personal or anything. I thought that's what you were referring to, raw (assessment) marks, over aligned marks. But I am doubtful that a raw mark of 25/50 in Extension 1 Maths will be aligned to a performance band of E3 (at the least). If I had my way, it would be a substandard performance, going into the E1 or staying in the E2s (25 isn't that far off from <24).

But I'm just being hard on myself here, because of my lacklustre performance in the trial.
