Does anyone have any opinions on whether curing deafness by any means is a good thing or a bad thnig? Like does it kill out deaf culture or is it like an abnormality that should be fixed? Any views or opinions would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

I think it's a good thing. A deaf culture, may be good for diversity, but i'm guessing a lot of the deaf people would prefer to be able to hear as well. It's removing a disability and bringing them back up with the rest of the hearing world.

I think it's great that medical advances have helped so many people to gain their hearing abilities. However, some deaf people will never have any surgeries or implants done. Why? Think from their perspectives and draw upon the relevant conceptual links! It might be an interesting cross-cultural perspective to embark on. :)
